Connecting Rod
The connecting rod or con-rod connects the piston to the crankshaft. The connecting rods are generally made of steel for production engines, but can be made of aluminium (less weight and the ability to absorb high impact at the expense of durability) or titanium (for a combination of strength and weight at the expense of affordability) for high performance engines. For that reason, customized cutting tool services for the right working conditions are required.
