Gate valve body
A gate valve is a valve that is used to block or release the flow of liquids or gases through a pipeline. The valve lifts a round, rectangular or wedge shaped gate into or out of the path of the fluid in the pipeline. Gate valves are designed to minimize pressure drop across the valve in the fully opened position and completely stop the flow of fluid. The direction of fluid flow does not change, and the diameter through which the process fluid passes is essentially equal to that of the pipe. Hence, they tend to have minimal pressure drop when fully opened. Due to the gate valve’s ability to cut through liquids, gate valves are often used in the oil and gas industry.
